About Allergy & Immunology
Allergists identify and treat allergic and immune disorders: allergic rhinitis, asthma, food and drug allergies, eczema, chronic hives and recurrent infections due to immune deficiency. Skin-prick or blood tests pinpoint triggers, and immunotherapy can reduce sensitivity over time.
Stop antihistamines a few days before allergy skin testing unless told otherwise. Anyone who has had a severe reaction with throat swelling or breathing difficulty should carry an adrenaline auto-injector and see an allergist.
